The morning takes us on a drive to Bac Ha, where the region’s largest and most colorful market unfolds every Sunday. Here, Hmong, Phu La, Black Dzao, Tay, and Nung communities gather, their traditional attire creating a vibrant mosaic. Stroll among stalls selling handmade crafts, local produce, and everyday essentials, and engage with the warm-hearted locals. Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant.

In the afternoon, head downhill towards Lao Cai, stopping at Trung Do – a Tay ethnic village nestled by the river and surrounded by mountains. Wander through stilt houses and quiet hamlets, then share a cup of tea with a local family. Continue with a serene boat trip along the Chay River, where the scenery unfolds like a painting. The trip ends at Bao Nhai Bridge before returning to Sapa.

Note: If water levels are low, the boat trip will be replaced with a buffalo cart ride in Trung Do. For visits on non-Sundays, Bac Ha market will be replaced by Bac Ha town and the former H’Mong King’s Palace.

Today’s highlight is the ascent of Fansipan, the “Roof of Indochina”. A scenic drive brings us to the cable car station, where we begin our ride above valleys, cloud banks, and the emerald terraces of Muong Hoa. As the car climbs higher, the air cools and the views become ever more breathtaking.

At the final station, take a short 20-minute walk and climb about 600 steps to the summit. Standing at 3,143 meters, touch the landmark pyramid and take in the sweeping panorama of the Hoang Lien Son range. After descending, return to Sapa and enjoy the rest of the day at leisure. Overnight in hotel.
